PALAVER TREE COMENTARY - Editor's Choice for the Week

See the Editor’s Choice for the Week from comments on the Apprenticeship — Raising Masters and Maestros:

"Any society is like an organic system. When the organs begin to fail revival must secure the vital organs - the heart, lungs, brain, kidneys, liver in order to stabilize the physiology to a state necessary to introduce physical food required for sustainable homeostasis.  The apprenticeship system you refer to was nourished by an ethical programming designed to promote merit in pursuit of what Paul the apostle talks about in Phil 4 vs 8. The British society developed an educational system from the 14th century that trained their citizens on empire building and management. That educational system has since collapsed because of the impact of globalization. However, the remnants of that educational philosophy has been transferred to the market place with marginal success.

"Nigeria, on the other hand, at some point in her history departed from a path of meritorious service of "in brotherhood we stand" and went through a mutation that produced a people that were given new models of virtual reality in "the labours of our heroes past" without identifying the real heroes that should serve as motifs of sustainable practice of apprenticeship.   The heroes are those who made money very fast and "blessed" a few kinsmen who are ready to justify the viral infections of these acts of commission on the mentoring and apprenticeship programmes developed to help society produce its own type of science, arts and technology using the human and natural resources given to them by the almighty.

"Many in Nigeria do not believe that there is massive failure of many systems (both governance and institutions) so the key right now is to have a strong support system in place as you are trying to raise a band of believers that hope there are still enough of the critical organs to rescue.
"Keep up the broadcast."
