REMINDER - What A Blog On Creativity And Innovation CAN Do For You!

This blog has undertaken to call attention to, share, expose and stimulate its readers to become more educated on the rudimentary elements of CREATIVITY and INNOVATION in order to foster both growth of CREATIVITY and INNOVATION in the public sphere and stimulate debate, practice, uptake, and/or experiments even. Hopefully even hobbyists would choose to try out their hands on one notion or the other.

In this undertaking, this blog's foremost methodology would be primarily by information sharing as it publishes articulate posts espousing empirical principles at all times while grounded in theory as much as possible but without allowing theoretical conceptualizing get in the way of easily digestible and accessible lessons sharing.

From the onset, one of the very first posts published assayed what topics, exchanges and discussions would primarily guide this blog in terms of definition and working concepts so that we could all be reading from the same page. See The Subject Matter of this Blog.

In an nutshell, naijaGRAPHITTI blog wishes to use a viable online platform to democratize and popularize everything CREATIVITY and INNOVATION. This commitment entails we deliver on offerings and topics that would pre-digest and promote the concepts of CREATIVITY and INNOVATION and their relevance and application in the Nigerian technological ecosystem and public/social sphere.

In this vein, issues which are topical to the PROPAGATION of a culture of CREATIVITY and INNOVATION such as science and technology (S&T) policies, technological-cum-cultural evolution / revolution, leadership, governance, public institutions and the flow / ebb of popular culture etc., will be considered as contexts to our key subjects.

Equally important, the blog would highlight the multidisciplinary nature of the two key concepts by showing notable linkages between various subjects and their ramifications/applications, minimizing artificial divisions which inflexible formal curricula tend to erect between otherwise interconnected fields.

This blog wishes to push the boundary of informal learning methodologies - through improving access to information and primary sources, advocacy, building an enthusiastic learning community as well as technological activism - to challenge those who could become inspired to take up the cause(s) of creative problem solving and critical thinking.

In terms of ICT, S&T, and technological evolution/development, Nigeria is on the wrong side of the equation. We are yet to tackle and overcome very foundational matters. As you read this Nigeria has no cohesive and effective Science and Technology policy, no cogent National Innovation System and little (if not insignificant) investments in core Research and Development (R&D). Into the mix, add poor internet penetration, prohibitive IT subscription, poor service rendering from IPs and you are not exactly in Utopia.  What is even most galling is the woefully electric power supply which successive administrations have baulked at solving.

These plentiful myriad of challenges therefore presents a robust premise for the raison d'être and thus the lifeblood of this blog. For then we could indeed use this avenue to empower those contributors who would be motivated for change, demanding it, first, of themselves and, next, of others. And we are willing to give this attempt our very best shot.

Here is this blog's fundamental belief: YOU DO NOT REQUIRE GENIUS TO DO CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION. YOU REQUIRE STRATEGY, FOCUS AND A KNACK FOR TAKING INITIATIVE.

This reminder thus presages the commencement of our posts in BUILDING A CREATIVE NATION section. WELCOME!
